Appointed Officers
Members in appointed positions are not in the BOD, but have responsibilities outside of the realm of basic membership. They are not required to attend BOD meetings (if the BOD is voting on something they would not vote since they have not been democratically elected), but are strongly encouraged to as it may be imperative to fulfilling their responsibilities. create a position that you would like to have

Finding funds, budgeting our money and overseeing spending are time consuming responsibilities that in the past have fallen on one person. In forming this committee, we will be taking the burden off of one officer and making our finance processes more transparent to group members, ensuring accountability. The committee will be facilitated by the Organizational Director and will consist of 4 to 6 members of UMD for Clean Energy who will meet a few times each semester to create and submit our primary budget for SGA funds, as well as find and attain other funding sources. Members of the finance committee will also assist the Organizational Director with the tasks involved in spending our money (line item transfers, ISRs, purchase orders, contracts etc.).
Anyone is welcome to apply for a seat on the finance committee – no previous finance experience is required, and everyone on the committee will receive training about the SGA finance process and more. Sitting on the finance committee will be an extremely positive experience for group members because although it is not a huge time commitment, committee members will gain the know-how and experience that is necessary to be the president or treasurer of a student group at UMD.
